Lark Candles Teacher Grant Program

One of my favorite quotes is, "Teachers are the engineers of the soul", something that I wholeheartedly believe. When I came out of college, I was saddled with student loan debt and teaching at a Title 1 school. I found myself spending more money than my supply check could ever cover. Many times, I would have to choose between shopping for myself or materials for my students. No teacher should have to make this choice.

Yet, there is plenty of evidence that shows teachers do have to make the choice between sacrificing their personal finances for their students. Many teachers supplement their supply checks with their own salary or second jobs, and some teachers do not even get a supply check.

Lark Candles was founded on the basis that we wanted to create a candle company geared towards teachers. We decided to make a product teachers love, but took it one step further. We wanted to be part of the solution to the problem when it comes to the lack of financial support teachers experience.

A portion of each candle sale goes to our Lark Candles Teacher Grant Program. Every year, we will provide a teacher with a grant to help provide materials and resources for their classroom.  We hope to grow this program to even larger proportions, so the common question that teachers ask themselves, "Should I spend my own money on supplies for my children?" becomes a question of the past.
